CLIFF BYERLY

Cliff Byerly has been a Marine for over 20 years (with 12 years of active duty). The majority of his military career has been serving as a reconnaissance team leader. Mr. Byerly has done several deployments as a Marine, to include Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 & 1991 and in 1992 to Somalia. Mr. Byerly finished his active duty service in San Diego as a drill instructor.

In 1996, Mr. Byerly left active duty and joined the Los Angeles PD. During his time as a police officer, Mr. Byerly has worked patrol and with gangs and narcotics. In 2003, he took a break from police work to deploy to Iraq for OIF 1. In Iraq, Mr. Byerly was a team leader with 4th Force Reconnaissance.

As a Marine and police officer, Mr. Byerly has trained hundreds of Marines and fellow officers in firearms and tactics.

Knowledgeable in firearms and tactics, Mr. Byerly also has a martial arts background in Tang Soo Do, Kung Fu San Soo, wrestling and BJJ. In addition, he is a military marksmanship instructor and range safety officer.

Mr. Byerly is a Certified LAPD Arrest and Control Instructor, S.P.E.A.R. System™ and S.P.E.A.R. Tactical Ground Combatives Instructor. He is also trained as a: Combat Focus Shooting Instructor, Red Zone Weapons Defense Instructor, Krav Maga Force Training Division Police Instructor, Military Combat & Marksmanship Instructor, Certified Range Safety Officer, Certified Level 1 Crossfit Trainer.

Mr. Byerly is the Lead Instructor with the Police & Military Division for BTS.

Rick Randolph is a full-time police officer and defensive tactics instructor in Northern California. He is a Blauer Tactical Systems S.P.E.A.R. System & Personal Defense Readiness (PDR) Coach and a member of their Mobile Training Team (MTT).

Rick retired from professional MMA after 20 fights. He won titles in three different weight classes. He is a high school wrestling coach and has trained in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, kickboxing and Krav Maga. 

Currently, he is a CrossFit and CrossFit Kids coach at CrossFit Anywhere in Northern California and is the founding member of CrossFit RPD, a non-profit law enforcement affiliate where he trains kids and police officers.

Eric Walker

Eric Walker has been a police officer since 1995. After 15 years of service he  ‘retired’ and obtained his CrossFit Level 1 trainer certification opening a CrossFit facility in Arizona. Mr. Walker is still working for his police department in a reserve status, carrying on in the capacity of Use of Force/ DT Instructor, SIMS force on force Instructor, and Taser Instructor. He has taught at the local police academy for the last 10 years instructing the cadets in DT, Physical Training, and various police functions. Mr. Walker has extensive training in SWAT, firearms, and Active Shooter Response. He is also a graduate of Prescott College earning a degree in Physical Education and Secondary Education.

As a Police Trainer, Mr. Walker has been responsible for the training and safety of hundreds of police officers; this includes cadets as well as active duty officers.

In addition to his knowledge and involvement in police training, Mr. Walker also has a martial arts background in Tae Kwon Do, Judo and for the last ten years, Carlson Gracie Jiu‐Jitsu.

Mr. Walker has been training with Blauer Tactical Systems (BTS) for over a decade. 

Aside from his certifications in the S.P.E.A.R. System, he is also trained as a Defensive Tactics/ Use of Force Instructor, Simunitions Instructor, Physical Fitness Instructor and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.

Dominick Rodriguez

Dom is a retired police officer from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (L.V.M.P.D.). A 22‐ year‐veteran of the LVMPD, Mr. Rodriguez has worked as a Patrol, Field Training, Community/Problem Solving, S.W.A.T., and as an In‐service Staff instructor while serving on the Defensive tactics committee as a the Defensive tactics coordinator.

Mr. Rodriguez is one of the founding instructors for the LVMPD`s Advanced Officer Skill’s Training Program. The program has since adopted the S.P.E.A.R. System.

Previously, Mr. Rodriguez was in the United States Marine Corps serving with the India Co. 3rd Battalion / 1st Marine Corps Division. Mr. Rodriguez has approximately 40 years of various Martial arts training and has taught private/military/police groups.

Since 2000, Mr. Rodriguez has been training with Blauer Tactical Systems and has attended numerous S.P.E.A.R. Instructor Certification courses.

Jason Dury

Jason Dury is one of the lead instructors for Blauer Tactical Systems. He has been a member of the BTS Personal Defense Readiness team for over 10 years.  Jason also has over 15 years of experience in the fields of international security and risk management (travel safety; personal & executive protection; and more). He has worked with numerous private and governmental clients worldwide, and is now the International Security Manager for a Fortune 500© company in the Northern Virginia area.

Neil Wilson

For the past 12 years, Neil Wilson has worked for the Essex Police in the United Kingdom. Based at his forces’ training college, he is a principal trainer for Officer Safety training and is responsible for all new recruits.

Prior to this, Mr. Wilson served with the 4th Regiment Army Air Corps for seven years, serving in Germany and in the Gulf War before finishing his military career back in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Wilson was first introduced to Mr. Blauer and the S.P.E.A.R. System™ research in 1999, after attending the first ever S.P.E.A.R. Instructor Course held in the United Kingdom. Since then he has attended numerous advanced S.P.E.A.R. Instructor Development Courses, which includes: Weapon Control Instructor Development Course, S.P.E.A.R. Application for the Firearms Officer Course and Officer Survival Course.

Starting in 2005 Mr. Wilson began organizing the UK S.P.E.A.R. Instructor Courses.  Since then he has served as one of the primary SPEAR System coaches in the UK for several years and travel throughout Europe teaching both the PDR & SPEAR System program.

Zeb Glover

Zeb Glover is based in the UK and has been active in operational security work for the last 19 years, having experience with Close Protection, Mobile Response Teams and Door Supervision, bringing a practical and common-sense approach to his training sessions. His work has included protective details with  people such as H.H. Dalai Lama and H.R.H. Princess Tomislav of Yugoslavia. 

With a background of over  27 years in both highly traditional and wholly modern approaches to personal defense, Zeb uniquely combines  legal, operational and tactical knowledge and experience within the team. 

For the last 10 years Zeb has also been providing Consultancy & Training in Conflict Management, Risk Assessment, Personal Safety and Physical Restraint/Intervention to a vast spectrum of people from kids to Law Enforcement.

Zeb received his first certification with Blauer Tactical Systems in 2004 and has been using the tactics and research in security work and in the court, as well as extensively teaching it ever since. He has attended many courses, his qualifications include: SPEAR SYSTEM Instructor, PDR Principles Coach™; Advanced Certifications in Weapons Protection; Tactical Ground Fighting and Ballistic Micro-Fights™ (HIGH GEAR Scenario Training).

His other professional training qualifications include: BTEC Professional Award in  Teaching for the Lifelong Learning Sector, BTEC Award in Coaching of physical Intervention, Breakaway Skills and the Law; BTEC Advanced Award in the  Practice and Instruction of Physical Intervention and Restraint. He is also a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
